And The Land Shall Be Quiet?
My first day in Jerusalem, I attended an intriguing conference hosted by the Truman Institute at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. 40 years after the first war in Lebanon, this conference examined the effect that the war and the extended, bloody stay on Lebanese soil had on Israeli society and their influence on defense, culture, media, and strategic perceptions. I heard fascinating perspectives from the former heads of Mossad, the Shin Bet, Political-Military Bureau at Ministry of Defense, and more. These photos below are scanned documents from the notes I took during the “Security, Policy, and Strategy” portion of the conference and it provides insight into how exactly Israeli government officials view historical Israeli military involvement in Lebanon.
